Hello you lot,
How are you all doing? Well I hope. I have been and I’m going to be very busy over the next couple of weeks, which is always very fun.
First of all, my bad throat has just about cleared up, I went and seen my doctor, course of antibiotics & advised to tone my singing down a bit. No damage to my voice box or vocal chords, which I was very pleased about, he did say if it kept being sore I may need to stop singing altogether, but thankfully that’s not the case. Hurrah for antibiotics!
I’ve made it through to the Megastars Semi-Finals which is this Friday evening! I’m very, very excited, it’s been a good few years since I’ve been involved in Megastars but it’s always a great experience. For lots more information and to hear an interview with myself and all the other contestants check out www.inverclydemedia.com .
I’ve also continued work on my new album and recorded a new track. It’s a cover of the Top20 Carpenters hit “Touch Me When We’re Dancing”. You can check that out here: www.myspace.com/stevenmclachlan . I always wanted to record the song as it’s one of my favourite songs of all time.
Move Closer, has been doing well very early on indeed. Been #1 on a few charts already which I wasn’t expecting and has started to pick up radio play, which is very exciting.
So everything is very exciting and good! I’ll let you all know what happens after Friday and how it went.
Lots of love,
Steven x
Well, if you haven’t noticed already Move Closer, is the new single and it’s released at the end of June. It’s been sent to all the digital stores, all the paper work has been done and promos have been sent out to radio stations all over the UK. It was a quick snap decision to release it this coming summer, so I decided to move fast with everything else, I really don’t ever want to repeat the Then One Day fiasco again.
If you want you can hear a more full version here www.soundclick.com/stevenmclachlan . It’s actually already started to work it’s way up some Play-list & net charts, how exciting.
If the interest continues as strong as it’s started and radio picks it up, the release will be brought forward no doubt. The album and next single will still have a September/October-ish release though.
Well, I’ve been cursed with a sore throat, I’m suspecting it’s tonsillitis. How very rude, when I’m in the middle of making my album and have a performance next week! Fingers crossed it’ll be gone by then. Knowing myself, it’s likely to be nerves, I’m known to get phantom ear infections and things leading up to gigs and stuff. Oh no, I can’t just get butterflies like normal singers *rolls eyes*.
Speaking of the album, now I have the disco and electro out of my system, I’ve started writing some lovely ballads. I hope you’ll like them, they’re lovely and ballad-y.
I think my lockets have went straight to my head, so I’ll chat with you all again later.
Lots of love,
Steven xx
Hello land lovers,
Well, I’ve finished my mini-tour of the elderly residential homes, was super fun! Lugging my equipment around, is not so fun though!
Things for the new album are looking pretty bloody good, I have found a photographer, I’d like to do the photos for the artwork (who I should have phoned by now, whoopsie) & I’ve started picking outfits! I have a few ideas for the artwork, but I’m not giving anything away yet (we all know it’s likely to be me looking somewhat grumpy with my name in fancy writing lol).
Oh! I also finished a track called Move Closer, can’t remember if I’ve wrote about that here yet! Well, it samples Wow by Kylie, it’s quite disco-y & fun. Looks likely it’ll be the first single from the record. I hope Kylie likes it too, it’s kind of a nod to her, as I’ve always loved her growing up.
Had some time off this week, just been relaxing and watching cartoons, but it’s back to the studio on Tuesday!
Have a lovely Easter everybody xxx
Hey guys,
Well wow, it’s been like a month since I last wrote to you lot! So sorry about that. Well it’s Sunday morning and due to the fact that wind is very noisy and my bed’s by the window… I haven’t slept much!
Well what have I been up to? I’ve been rehearsing for my valentine’s show, that’s going really well & I’m looking forward to it lots. I’ll try and get some video footage of one or two of the performances from that up on here. I enjoy the gigs at the elderly folks homes, always really warm and intimate. Plus if they don’t like you or a song they tend to just shout “Shut up!” at you. Which is always hilarious. I love seeing their faces light up when I perform Rose Garden, they all seem to know the words to that as well.
Work started back on my new album too, done the lead vocal for Access Denied & it’s sounding pretty good. Writing the lyrics to this was rather fun, all 100% true as well (you’ll know what I mean when you hear it). Also, for all of you who’ve been with me since the beginning, I Love You For Money has been re-mixed & will possibly be on the album. If not on the album, it’ll be a b-side for sure. The song has never been released, it’s about time. It’s odd to think that ILYFM was the first track I ever did vocals for in a studio.
I’ll also be doing the final (I think) vocals, this week or next for the album I’m doing with Mark Sheeky. It’s literally been years since we started this project so it’ll be really good once it’s finally out. The tracks done so far are all really, really good. Mark will also be doing a song for my solo album (of course he’s produced ILYFYM as well).
I’d like to get my camera into the studio sometime too, would be nice to show some of the behind the scenes type malarkey.
On the more personal side of things, I found myself at a couple of fun parties over the past few weeks. Including my cousins engagement party (CONGRATS!) where I was huckled about to do the can-can AND the conga by people who were like twice my height. I ached for days. Good fun though.
Oh and like probably most of you, I had that AWFUL Norovirus! But by the sounds of some horror stories I’ve heard, I think I was pretty lucky. To anybody who’s had it my sympathy goes out to you.
I’ve also been spending far too much time in front of my Playstation, the new Phantasy Star game came out, it actually arrived a day early as well, which I’m tickled about. Although, I don’t think I should be broadcasting that as I hear a lot of UK people had problems getting it.
Well that’s it for now. I’ll try and update you a bit more frequently on the album progression. Also if you get a chance, lots of my sites including the official one, have been decorated by my lovely team, who you SHOULD pop over to the message board and say hello to.Toodles for now folks,
Steven xxxx
